DHB (Dihydroboldenone): Dense Tissue, Painful Injections

📅 July 17, 2026 ⏱️ 2 min read ✍️ Team TPS

DHB has a reputation for exceptional lean tissue and a reputation for painful injections, and both are earned.

What it is

DHB is dihydroboldenone, 1-testosterone. It is the reduced form of boldenone, in the same way DHT is the reduced form of testosterone.

That reduction removes aromatisation entirely, so there is no oestrogen conversion and no water retention.

Why people rate it

DHB is credited with dry, dense tissue and strong strength gains without the water or the oestrogen management that comes with aromatising compounds. Users often describe the tissue quality as unusually good.

It sits in the same conceptual space as masteron or primobolan but with a considerably larger contribution.

The injection pain

This is DHB’s defining practical problem and it is not a minor one. Post-injection pain is reported consistently and can be severe enough to interfere with training and sleep for days.

It is prominent enough that people abandon the compound over it despite rating the results. Frequent injections of a short ester compound the issue, so site rotation matters more here than almost anywhere. See injection sites and rotation.

Lethargy and cardio

Fatigue is the other common report, along with reduced cardiovascular capacity. Neither is universal, but both come up often enough to expect.

No oestrogen, but still suppressive

No aromatisation means no aromatase inhibitor required, which is genuinely convenient. It does not mean no consequences: DHB suppresses natural production fully and needs a testosterone base and a recovery plan like anything else. See PCT explained.

Its androgenic character also means the usual DHT-derivative considerations apply to hair and skin.

Where it fits

An experienced user wanting dry tissue, willing to tolerate the injection pain, with a testosterone base. Not a first injectable, and not a good choice for anyone who struggles with injection discomfort already.
