Cholesterol: The Side Effect Nobody Feels

Cholesterol is the side effect nobody feels and everybody accumulates. There is no symptom, no warning, and no point at which your body tells you it has gone wrong.

What actually happens

Androgens suppress HDL: the protective fraction, and raise LDL. The mechanism involves hepatic lipase, which explains why the effect is so much larger with oral compounds: they pass through the liver first and in concentration.

HDL crashing by half over a few weeks on an oral is not unusual. That is a meaningful change to cardiovascular risk, not a number moving on a page.

Which compounds are worst

Orals broadly, and the dry orals particularly. Anavar is disproportionate given how mild it feels, and winstrol and superdrol are severe.

Why crushing oestrogen makes it worse

Oestrogen is protective for lipids. Over-suppressing it with an aromatase inhibitor removes that protection while an androgen is already suppressing HDL.

People aiming for near-zero oestradiol frequently produce a lipid profile far worse than the compound alone would have caused. See aromatase inhibitors compared.

What genuinely helps

Cardio. The most reliable lever on HDL there is.

Keep orals short. The dose-duration relationship is real, and a short run recovers far better than a long one.

Diet composition. Unsaturated fats over saturated, and adequate fibre.

Omega-3 and citrus bergamot both have supporting evidence and are cheap.

Recovery

Lipids generally recover after cessation, and reasonably quickly for a short run. The concern is cumulative exposure, repeated long cycles with little time between them do not give the profile a chance to return, and that is where lasting risk builds.
