Your First Week With a Peptide Pen

📅 July 5, 2026 ⏱️ 3 min read ✍️ Team TPS

Most of what goes wrong in the first week of using a pen is procedural, not pharmacological. The compound is usually fine. The handling is where the mistakes are.

Before you open anything

Check what arrived. Sealed carton, legible serial, intact pen, clear solution. Scan the QR code and confirm it resolves to the manufacturer’s own verification record rather than a reseller’s page, verifying a SerenQ pen covers the order to do it in.

Then refrigerate it. If the parcel had a rough journey, cold chain and warm delivery explains what actually matters and what does not.

Do the arithmetic once, on paper

This is the step that saves the most trouble. Before touching the dial, work out what one unit delivers on this pen: total compound, cartridge volume, units across that volume.

A unit is a volume, not a quantity of compound, and the same dial number means different amounts on different pens. Write your per-unit figure down. Every later question, how long this lasts, whether the next pen is better value, what to dial after switching, falls out of that one number.

How to read a peptide pen dial and how many doses are in a 10mg pen work through it.

The first injection

Wipe the septum, fit a fresh tip, prime until you see a droplet, then dial your amount. The droplet is the confirmation, not a count of presses.

Hold the button down for the full count printed on the pen before withdrawing. Releasing early is a genuine cause of short delivery and it is invisible when it happens.

Then remove the tip, cap the pen, refrigerate. See priming a peptide pen and pen tips: sizes, fitting and disposal.

Expect the first days to be unrepresentative

Whatever the compound, the first few days are a poor guide to how it will go. Some effects take time to appear; some early sensations settle and never return.

The mistake this leads to is changing something on day three because nothing has happened, or because too much has. Give it long enough to produce a signal worth acting on.

Keep a two-line record

Date, units dialled. That is enough.

It sounds excessive for something this simple, and then three weeks later you cannot remember whether you took today’s, or what you were on before you changed pens. A record removes an entire category of doubt for almost no effort.

What should make you stop

Cloudy solution, visible particles, discolouration, or a pen that leaks from a properly fitted fresh tip. Those are reasons to stop using that cartridge rather than to push on and hope.

A pen that will not deliver is usually a tip problem, work through troubleshooting before assuming the cartridge is at fault. And store it properly between uses: storing peptides properly.
